Itinerary
Day 1: Wednesday 16 June | Arrive in Lima
We’re meeting in Lima at 4pm in the hotel lobby to introduce ourselves, then heading straight out on a guided walking tour of "The City of Kings". We'll then have a special Welcome Dinner together at La Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, one of the city's top Peruvian restaurants, which overlooks pre-Incan ruins.
Day 2: Thursday 17 June | Lima
Wake up with Morning Pages and breakfast in our lovely hotel, then head out for a full day in Lima. We'll visit The Casa de la Literatura Peruana, a cultural treasure celebrating Peru's literary heritage.
In the afternoon we'll have a guided tour of a local produce market and cooking lesson at a local woman's home. You better have been paying attention - we'll eat our lesson for dinner.
Day 3: Friday 18 June | Lima - Amazon
Buckle up, it's time to head into the Amazon! (All internal transfers and flights are included.)
Posada Amazonas Lodge is a spacious ecolodge in the heart of a private concession owned by the Native Community of Infierno, the guardians of the rainforest. Your accommodation includes an open wall facing the forest. This afternoon we'll climb to the top of their special viewing canopy - toucans, parrots, or macaws are regularly seen overhead.
At night we'll do the first of our three writing workshops.
(All your meals are included during your stay at Posada Amazonas Lodge.)
Day 4: Saturday 19 June | Amazon
After breakfast and Morning Pages, we have a full day to do the special activities Posada Amazonas Lodge include in our booking. If you're open to an early start you can join us on a hike and boat to try to spot rare Squirrel Monkeys and Giant Otters on Oxbow Lake. In the evening we can take a special night walk. There are also educational talks about conservation and the ecosystem of the Amazon available if you prefer the theoretical side of things.
(All your meals are included during your stay at Posada Amazonas Lodge.)
Day 5: Sunday 20 June | Amazon - Cusco
After breakfast, we head off to Cusco. (All your internal transfers and flights are included.)
Once we've checked in, we'll enjoy a guided walking tour around the center of town, seeing the the Stone of Twelve Angles at the Inca Roca Palace, and The Plaza de Armas, surrounded by colonial arcades and four churches. We'll finish the tour with a delicious snack in Florencia & Fortunata Café, and do a book club session together at night.
Day 6: Monday 21 June | Cusco
After Morning Pages and breakfast, we'll go visit the two most important and amazing Inca sites nearby: Sacsayhuaman and Qenqo. After our lunchbox-style packed lunch for the expedition, our group will then experience a private session with a local woman shaman, for ritual blessings and purification.
Back at our hotel in the evening we'll do our second workshop together.
Day 7: Tuesday 22 June | Cusco - Sacred Valley
After Morning Pages and breakfast, we have private cars to take us through the Sacred Valley towards the ruins of Pisac. This lush area has long been the main source of food for the high Andes, and at Pisac we'll learn more about Inca culture. Then we'll meet a local women's textile co-op where we'll learn how they use camelid fibres for weaving. Lunch together is at the sustainable local restaurant AMA.
In the evening back at our lovely hotel, we'll do our next book club.
Day 8: Wednesday 23 June | Machu Picchu
After an early breakfast we'll be transported to board the tourist train towards Aguas Calientes - an exceptional journey along the edge of the Urubamba River. From there we get a bus up to Machu Picchu!
(According to government regulations, all visitors must follow a pre-determined route within the site. Your special admission is included.)
At night, back in our hotel together, we'll do our third workshop together.
Day 9: Thursday 24 June | Inti Raymi Festival
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Peru's biggest annual festival, Inti Raymi. An explosion of colour and culture. We've put the whole day aside to just be able to soak it in.
At the end of the day, after our final book club session, we will have a farewell dinner at Nuna Raymi, a local and sustainable restaurant.
Day 10: Friday 25 June | Depart from Cusco
After breakfast and a special, final-morning group activity with Bri, our official time together ends.
We'll head to the airport together (transfers included) after checkout.

Accommodation
The Bibliocarta priorities for accommodation are always: cleanliness and character. Sometimes plans need to change, but we will confirm the specific sites in the two months before departure. Currently we plan to stay in:
- Antigua Mira Flores in Lima
- Posada Amazonas Lodge in the Amazon
- Antigua Casona San Blas in Cusco
All three currently have a minimum 9/10 average guest rating on Booking-dot-com.
The two different prices of the trip are for twin share (regular price) or private rooms (higher price).
Fitness Level
Travellers for this specific trip will need to be able to walk for several hours on uneven ground through city tours and historical sites. We recommend sensible sneakers, but you won’t need hiking boots.
The activities in the Amazon are optional, but those able to hike for 1-2 hours, climb to viewing platforms, and paddle a canoe, may have such experiences.
Please make sure you can manage your own suitcase. We will often have people helping us, but not always.
If you have any questions about mobility, please get in touch and we’re delighted to help.
Book Clubs & Prompted Writing Sessions
The final itinerary includes allocated times for three book club sessions and three prompted writing sessions, all run by your host for the trip, Bri Lee.
There are two ‘required readings’, and you’ll receive a copy of both these books with enough time to read them before you depart in June 2027.
Don’t be nervous if you don’t consider yourself some kind of ‘serious’ writer; the guided writing sessions are designed to stimulate you creatively, and can simply be for your own travel diaries if you don’t feel like sharing.
Payment Process & Payment Plan Options
Travellers must make their non-refundable deposit to secure their spot on the trip because places are limited.
Once the minimum threshold (ten travellers) is reached, you will then receive an email with a link to the full payment portal. At this time you may choose to either pay the amount in full (no later than 1 March 2027) or sign up for the payment plan of three installments (to be paid on 1 September 2025, 1 December 2026, and 1 March 2027).
Please read our Terms & Conditions page for further details and for the cancellation policy.
